KidStarter

KidStarter is an application that lets you create an alternative work environment so kids five years old and younger can learn how to use devices in a way appropriate to them.

When you install the program, you first set an administrator password with which you can change the workspace, add more elements, deactivate others, and so on. To let kids use games and other applications all you have to do is enable them, making them extra visible on this kid-customized desktop.

You can also do something similar with the Internet. For example, you can block access to certain websites or limit access exclusively to websites of your choosing.

KidStarter is an excellent way to help kids get familiar with computers, as you can let them have 'free reign' without fear of them stumbling upon inappropriate content.
